Expansion works to Sirius Academy North began in January 2022 and will create an additional 150 student places at the secondary school in North Hull.
The Academy was constructed as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme (BSF) which opened as a new provision in 2012, for 1,250 pupils.
In response to the city’s overall demand for secondary school places, and the schools increased popularity, works will increase the overall size of the school to accommodate 1,400 11-16 year olds.
A new extension block will be built containing six classrooms, additional PE space and an increase to the schools dining capacity.
Geo Houlton & Sons Ltd has been appointed to carry out the work based on their delivery of similar educational schemes across Hull on behalf of Esteem, including Kelvin Hall Academy, St Mary’s College, Hull Trinity House Academy and the current live extension programme at Malet Lambert. Completion is expected in August 2022, ready for pupils to start the new school year in September.
The expansion to Sirius Academy North forms part of a £50m investment to increase pupil places, choice and provide outstanding learning environments for children.
