2024 was a year of significant progress and achievements across education and leisure estates:
Education Projects brought us
- St Mary’s College SEN and Sirius Academy West were successfully delivered early in the year providing additional pupil places across the city
- Dorchester School repurposing followed tin the summer of 2024
- Major development efforts focused on the creation of new SEN facilities either through the repurposing of existing spaces or the provision of new build and modular, projects at Ganton Secondary School, The Boulevard Academy, and Rising Stars were all developed and gained approval for delivery through 2025
Leisure Developments
- Works began on the Bude Playing Field Project in the Spring of 2024 as the wet weather conditions experienced at the beginning of the year began to subside allowing the drainage works to the playing fields to commence
- At the opposite side of the city a new 3G pitch and a modern changing pavilion were developed for Costello Sports Complex due for delivery through 2025
- The former Derek Crothall Building underwent development to repurpose the existing building to accommodate Higher and Adult Education delivery with new user groups hoping to operate from the facility once completed
Recognition for Our Work
- Our local supply partners achieved recognition for national stage with award nominations for projects delivered under our partnership, the Ron Dearing UTC – STEAM facility and Albert Avenue Pools both received nominations and shortlisting
- The success of collaborative working and the Esteem Partnership was highlighted as we took Centre Stage at the Education Estates Conference in Manchester, a panel comprising of Esteem, Hull City Council, end user and supply partner presenting on the successes of delivering a Capital Programme of works in partnership
Looking Ahead to 2025
This year promises number of exciting opportunities as we continue to make a difference across the city, including:
- Delivering vital education and leisure projects to meet Hull’s growing demand for facilities and services
- Concluding all project works under the Strategic Partnering Agreement with Hull City Council ensuring a strong finish and lasting legacy
Social Value
As 2024 drew to a close, Esteem and our supply partners proudly committed to become the lead sponsorship of the Generation Hull Programme following formal approval from the English Arts Council for the 3-year programme. This initiative creates a legacy project beyond the SPA and is a true reflection of our dedication and commitment to the city of Hull and in particular the children of Hull as is a meaningful conclusion to our 15-year partnership journey.
